It's all about helping children to learn, keeping up with the ever-changing demands and changes in curriculum, and keeping learning fun. I find that technology offers a venue that peaks the interests of our students.
The challenge is to use technology while making it purposeful. In the past two years, I have been using QR codes. The children like the idea of completing an assignment knowing they are going to be able to use the iPads to self-check their work.
I like to have students complete assignments independently, review with their peers, and then use the QR codes as a final check. It is very motivating for students. It serves numerous functions. They have to think independently, they go over it a second time with a peer for accountability, and they are seeing the information a third time with the QR codes.
I never hear a peep out of them except exclamations, "this is fun!" And, that's while learning grammar.
